Tekla Aleksieva
Tekla Wilhelm Aleksieva is a Bulgarian artist. He became famous for the original covers he created for the books in the science fiction series Galaktika Library of the Varna publishing house Georgi Bakalov. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
Tekla Aleksieva was born in Sofia. Graduated from VIII “N. Pavlovich ”, Sofia, Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting, with Prof. Gocho Bogdanov. Works in the field of painting, tapestry, monumental murals and illustration.
Since 1974 he has participated in a number of joint art exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. With themes corresponding to the time and content of the exhibitions in the 70s and 80s, the artist showed a bright development and affinity for the urban theme and its modern, photorealistic re-creation (the picturesque composition "Crossroads"), which is one of her first strong attempts. in this regard. For this purpose, Tekla Aleksieva focuses on original solutions that enhance the vision of technology, modern design, new materials, artificial light, modern architectural landscape.
Tekla Aleksieva became very popular with the more than 120 original covers of the series for science fiction library "Galaxy" of the Varna publishing house "Georgi Bakalov" created by her. In them she shows variety, spectacular color, attention to detail and space.
According to the creator of the Galaxy Library series, Milan Asadurov, the covers created by Tekla Aleksieva have a great contribution to the success of the series.
She has won awards at exhibitions of illustrations in Bulgaria, and in 1985 a film about her was broadcast on BNT (with screenwriter and host Stefan Tihchev).
