Rumen Rachev

Rumen Rachev was born in Belovo on April 15, 1956. In 1982 he graduated from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, majoring in Illustration and Book Design. He works mainly in the field of painting, printed graphics, drawing, murals and design. His work is better known abroad than in Bulgaria. He has lived and worked in Germany for more than eighteen years. Only in recent years has he lived in Bulgaria without breaking ties with German gallery owners and colleagues. His works are owned by public and private collections in the country and abroad. He has realized over 35 solo exhibitions. From 1988 to 1996 he had solo exhibitions in the USA, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, England, and Russia. In 1991 won the honorary award of the International Jury in the competition of Toronto, Canada. After 1996 he exhibited in Bulgaria. His paintings are in the collections of the National Gallery in Sofia, Sofia City Art Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art and the Library in New York, the Museum of New Orleans, Bremen - Germany, Zurich - Switzerland and other public and private collections.
